How to change Droid icon for contacts

Is there a way I can change the little Droid icon that exist for all my 500 contacts, other than individually editing each contact. I'd like to assign one default icon (certainly not a Droid robot) for contacts i don't have pictures for.

I've done some light digging around the internet for this also. The default picture appears to be embedded in the Contacts.apk file and would take some editing to change. Doing a google search of that file should get you pointed in the right direction
