Smartphones and touchscreens, including the new Motorola DROID and BlackBerry Bold 9700, were among the best sellers at Simplexity over the Black Friday, Weekend and Cyber Monday. Simplexity says its websites including Wirelfy broke Black Friday and Cyber Monday records.

The Droid is breaking the rules with sales numbers. Only the IPhone has been on the same level with this or more. Good stuff indeed.

On the homepage for this site there's an link to an article which states that the DROID is now on pace to break 1 million sales in the first 90 days.

Considering this is a 1st gen phone from Moto/Verizon, and running an OS still very much in its infancy, that's really good, might be an understatement.

Well aware of this, but this also incorporates the suckers that bought the first one and then upgraded. It also went on sale worldwide at the same time, whereas the Milestone is not yet widely available (or available at all). Time for comparison on that level comes later. But hitting the 1 million mark faster than the original iPhone and/or the Pre would certainly be a strong kick off and bragging point for the Droid.

Right. And that's with 2 and a half years of advertising, sales, a built in customer base, and worldwide brand recognition behind it.

The fact that DROID basically came out of left field from a company that many wrote off and has managed to pull off the sales numbers it has is pretty awesome.
