Did you try , Battery out and back in place ?
" Hard Reset "
i dont think a hard reset is necessary. just do a soft reboot
Did you try pressing the notification itself?
I am having the same exact issue. I actually went into the gallery and deleted the image. As soon as I deleted it, it immediately downloaded again. I cannot get it to stop continuously downloading the image. The only way I could get it to stop temporarily was to go into the settings and applications and force stop the droid downloading. However, as soon as I try to download anything else and open up the droid downloading manager, the image immediately downloads again and the notification will not go away. SOOO FRUSTRATING!! Please help!
Settings > Applications > Manage applications > Market > Clear cache
So click on the notification bar at the top, it will show nothing. While still holding on the Notification Bar, Swipe Downwards and it will load a screen of all notifications and all you to delete which ones you want. As a test, you can attempt the Notification Bar Swipe even if there ISN'T a notification, it will just load the empty tray.
Hope this helps!
