Really?? Mine didn't last time I used it to restore. Bummer.
My Backup Pro will back up things like your Call Log, Contacts, text messages etc.., but WILL NOT backup application data.
I had applications like Personal Assistant and Easy Note where I lost everything after I rooted.

If you apply a rom or theme - backup first!
If you don't know how to backup...Stop until you do.
hint: I name my backups like this: sg6.0_20100428 or ss4.2_20100626 to easily find them later. rom and date.

Sorry to bring this thread back up but pretty much same question I have. Also when you go to root to use Titanium Back up you'll lose all your application data so it's kind of pointless for the OP. I was wondering if there was a way to save application data like, don't laugh, angry birds. If I go and root again I'll lose all my angry birds progress. I know it's silly but you'd think there would be a way to back that up as well.
Edit: Well I stand corrected, you won't lose you app data if you root as MotoCache1's guide will root with current OTA update. Very well written:
Root Droid 1 - regardless of OS version

My backup Pro WILL BACK UP APP DATA (at least for some apps), I successfully backed up app data online by:
opening the app
selecting backup
selecting Applications & Media
selecting online
(if you get a warning about backing up data online etc. click continue - you have a finite amount of space to store stuff)
click the arrow next to select all in the apps row
select the app that has data you wish to back up
click ok
either click ok in the backup name box and accept the name provided or create your own name and click ok
then in the info box, select either data, or apk+data and voila! your info is backed up online
to restore, you will need the pin it provides you and the password you created.
