Gmail says new mail but have none

When I open gmail on my phone at the top out says (9) as if I have none new emails but there isn't anything new there. If I log in from my computer I see that the nine it's referring to are nine that I have already read on my phone but haven't beenmarked as read on the computer..so I think it's some kind of sync issue...anyone else have this problem?

go to menu,applications,then hit menu and select all applications....the find gmail and gmail storage and clear the cache on each....gmail will refresh and you will be fine

It seems I did have an issue like that but, it was during a week or two where I was using alot of different ROMS.When I would reload the server data it would see existing messages as new.It seems like yours when it re syncs it sees them as new too.Try to poke around settings/sync and see if it is anything fishy in there.Or try to fix permissions(default answer hehe).GL

I tried the clear cache thing but both options are greyed out...how do i fix permissions?

got it figured out...it's actually "clear data" that you have to hit and not "clear cache" (at least for me that's what worked)....thanks guys
