Facebook doesn't sync certain contacts

I have the Droid and I'm running Android 2.1. The updated Facebook app (official one) sync most contacts perfects showing their status update in the contacts. However, there a few contacts who it just stop sync with or never did despite the fact that the name is identical to how they wrote it online. Also, I try to manually search for it but when I click the friend name and then edit contacts then Join, it just brings up my contacts list and not the friend's profile. I don't want to use fb sync because they only sync pictures, i want to the status updates as well. Any suggestions?
