Selective Downloading?

My DROID seems to be picky about what can be downloaded in the browser. So I have a two questions:

1) Why is it that I can download some mp3s from sites such as zshare/usershare but other mp3s from those same sites won't download? ( I get a message saying it cannot be downloaded because the format is not supported)

2) Is there a way to make the droid accept any download file? (Like .smc files which are roms)
