I have tried every one of the new 2.1 ROMs....most are much much better.
The trick is to make sure you load a ROM that is ESE53 based. The only ones I have had problems with are 2.1 N1 features ported to the 2.0.1 OS (likely the ones you had problems with in the past)...and Koush's ERE25 based ROM. I was excited to try that one, since so many people talk it up....but I had freezes/lockups, crashes/f/c's and even a auto reboot all within 10 mins of load his ROM. I have to believe it has something to do with it being a ERE25 (experimental) base and not ESE53(delayed OTA).
BB, SS and BlackDroid all have vast improvements with f/cs and freezing..and most fly and do not over heat with the proper kernel.
I am excited for AdamZs Smoked Glass 6 (ESE53 base)...I have been running his beta test 9 for a couple days and have not had a single force close from any program .. native or 3rd party (even ones I pushed to the system)!
Current Phone- Rezound...unlocked and perm-rooted!

^^ You can't go from 2.0.1 to an ESE25/ERE53 build without doing a nandroid... it's not possible. Probably why some people have problems, they don't read the instructions and try to update.zip to a completely new build... when it just won't work.
ERE53 = the futute. Switch or be left behind.
Srsly though, more battery life, everything smoother, better browser with native (ie: not Nexus Hacked) Multitouch Support. Absolutely no reason not to switch. Back everything up with Titanium Backup, and just nandroid it and restore what you want back after. I can do this in under 10 minutes now: complete wipe to nandroid restore and having my homescreens back setup.![]()

If you are moving to a 2.1 rom, I HIGHLY suggest Petes BB 2.1 Rom
It is by far the most popular, has the highest user base, and seems to be the fastest / most stable
I see on reason to use any other rom. Enjoy
I am not sure about Pete's BB being the most popular or stable but Blackdroid 7.5 is also extremely stable. My advice is to toake a look a at this and read some. Make an educated choice and decision. We will be here to support whatever you decide
Sometimes , It is what it is !
Still on a 2.01 rom with SG 5.0. It runs and has the 2.1 apps. If something works I tend to stick with it. I rooted so my phone would run smoother and have wi-fi and customize the look with things like the pulldown editor, themes, and live wallpaper.
Will a 2.1 rom give me more functionality or just smoother access to what I have already?
Most likely I'll be loading up Adamz new rom. 4.1 worked without a problem and 5.0 treated me the same. I like the look with the blue and smoked glass so if the other roms just offer a different look that's not enough for me to swap roms. One of these weekends I'll probably sit down and load up a bunch of different ones just to see what is different.

If you apply a rom or theme - backup first!
If you don't know how to backup...Stop until you do.
hint: I name my backups like this: sg6.0_20100428 or ss4.2_20100626 to easily find them later. rom and date.
