Google Voice acquires VoIP purveyor Gizmo5

Google has acquired Gizmo5 and has shutdown new sign ups. I wonder what will come out of this, and I hope it isn't shutdown long for new users sign ups.
Hopefully an app from google would combine the two ( google voice and gizmo5) and we could use it for VOIP on the data plan and never use any minutes and have one number for all phones.

Did they just shut them down? Whew, if so I just made it under the gun. As soon as I read they bought them out, I ran and signed up as current users are always the first to get access to new google services when they are finally up and running, while everyone else has to wait for invites, whew!
