    Removing Gmail account?

Hey, I'm thinking of removing my gmail account from my phone, but when I go to, it says it'll delete all the contacts and such associated with it. Does this mean all the contacts I've had since I've had VZW, or just Google contacts?

Well I go on gmail and look at contacts, and it's all my contacts. Does this mean that I'll no longer have them and have to re-enter them after the account is removed? Or will I just not have them backed up to Google if anything were to happen?

They will still be associated with the Gmail account just not your Droid.

I want to take the gmail account off the droid and keep my contacts. I don't really want the gmail account at all actually.

Then turn off sync before you remove the account.
I would also do a backup to the sdcard.

Ok, that should leave the contacts?
What app would you recommend for doing the backup?

BTW, your sig is great... the cop on the phone part.

You can do it right from contacts>>Menu>>import/export.
