Data Plans and $$$ redux
Some clarity: I live on a boat, and VZW is the best coverage by far. Can I look forward to VZ offering me a tether plan so I can pay $30 and plug my droid into my computer to have access? My usage is under 2gb/mo on the existing Broadband account. Thanks

Vzw.com, *228 option 3 (on the Voyager you want to activate), or call *611 and me or my other peers will help you activate it. If this didn't answer all of your questions please let me know.
Excellent. I kinda wanted to activate the Voyager, as that phone I know works and can be a backup incase something unfortunate happens, at least whoever busted, has a fully operational phone if need be.
Thanks again for taking the time to answer my question.

anyhow, umm thats to be determined....i wouldnt bank on that. i mean, are you on the 5gb plan rite now? i wouldnt be the right person to ask about the tethering, thats more of a tech question, but i have no information about tethering at this time.

I talked to the West Area data consultant and he informed me that VZW is working on an app that will allow you to tether your phone legitimately. I have no official date of release but I do know its in the works and they are working hard to have it as soon as possible. I do also know that a lot of the developers are working on the new verizonwireless.com 2.0 to release and that is currently their main focus. Hopefully soon for us that like to keep things legit.

I bought a new phone off a Verizon Rep a week ago. He got the phone as an upgrade and sold me it brand new. But he needed to activate the phone on his line before selling it to me. Then I went ahead and went inside a different Verizon Store and got insurance on it. The rep went ahead and activated the insurance with no problem.
But to my understanding.. I thought you can only get insurance on phones you bought directly from Verizon. Did I slip through somehow.. or will there be issues later when I happen to file an insurance claim?

First yes you did slip through the cracks. Second yes you should not have a problem creating a claim.

Ok 2 questions...I see VZW just lowered there Unlimited plan...But I called at they are not Lowering any other plans..and they only lowered the Unlimited without Texting?
Number 2 is there any plan on the horizon to help people like me with 2 Droids on one plan Like a Family Share Date plan. Talk about Sticker shock when you add 2 unlimited Data plans...and I have looked MOST droid users do not go over 1 GIG in a month..

1. The price for the unlimited plan with texting did drop. Prior to the pricing change it was 119.99. Now the price for unlimited talk and text is 89.99. They also lowered the 2100 minute plan to 2000 minutes and dropped the price $10.
2. There are no plans to have a family share data plan. There used to be that option under the old pricing called a "connect or premium plan". This would allow you to have unlimited web on a regular non pda handset. They just changed away from that plan so them going back to that exact plan is very unlikely.

Dec 9 wifey and I went VZW from Sprint. She got Moto Droid, I got Eris. We're on the 'Nationwide basic share 700' so it's $60 + $9.99 + $29.99x2 Plus we paid $200 for her phone and $100 for mine. Now I'm seeing all these commercials for 'Buy a Droid get an Eris free' and 'Nationwide unlimited for $69.'
Of course I saw these after we passed our 30 day period but do ya'll think it's possible to get any discount from CS? Would swapping to the new unlimited plan be worth it or is there some 'catch' I'm missing?
Thanks!

I called and discussed the new plans. We have a family with 1400 minutes and never go over it. Data on both. I intended to move up the unlimited voice which would have been an extra 20 or 30 but ended up staying with the 1400 and actually reducing my text to 250 per month saving $5.
