Autodisplay Text Messages

    Autodisplay Text Messages

    Can the Droid autodisplay incoming text messages without having to push buttons? Where is the setting at?

    the only thing I know is to install Handcent SMS it has a popup function when you get a new text.

    Sometimes a "smartphone" is only as smart as its user.

    You can also give SMS Popup a try. Not sure if it works on Android 2.0 yet as I don't use it myself, but give it a try and let us know if it works and if it is what you were looking for:

    I did this. It works well. pops up on screen and has an option to turn screen on when it pops up. Also it will dim the screen if you want.

    Good options, any others?

    I am guessing from the replies that it is not an integrated option out of the box at this point that I can just browse to like on a lot of cell phones.

    mine doesn't turn the screen on when i get a text message. i just enabled to "turn screen on for reminders" - but that doesn't seem very intuitive given that the initial SMS isn't a reminder, it's the real one.

    I know that the SMS Popup one does. I get popup notifications for voicemails and it even shows part of the speech-to-text in it.
