Is there a way to disable the regular texting

This is a discussion on Is there a way to disable the regular texting within the Droid General Discussions forums, part of the Droid Discussions category; and just use Handcent? I'm not liking that I get the updates for both :P...

    Is there a way to disable the regular texting

    and just use Handcent?
    I'm not liking that I get the updates for both :P

    Go to the settings of Messaging and go down to the bottom and disable notifications.

    I too have been wondering about the same thing. I've looked but cannot find anything. Has anyone found a way to disable the default sms notifications?

    If you use Google Voice keep in mind Handcent cannot sent with it. It can receive from it.

    But when you reply it will be sending via your normal SMS and not Google Voice's Free one.

    Im still getting 2 notifications... One is the handcent and the other is a white envelope...

    It goes to a new message screen and if I hit back it goes to Handcent... Is this because Im sending a message to myself?
