Well I'm not tied to my work email, I tried to BT my contacts, but it indicates the two are not compatible.
Well if you contacts are also in outlook just export them to Dos csv file. They will load no problem in gmail. Also if you have contact groups, BEFORE you import the CSV into gmail be sure to create the groups that you have in gmail. All your contacts should import fine and also be within the groups. Worked for me. Then your phone will sync with gmail and you are all set.
What will the Q9M sync with? As rgn2000 mentioned, if you can get them into a CSV file (via whatever process) you can get them into gmail.
Well got the contact to export but now working on the calender.
i dont get why you would have to be tied to your work email. You install google sync on your moto phone and run it and then when google syncs on your droid it will update the contact list as well. Am I missing something? Worked like a charm from my Blackberry and I was believing it would work just as well with the moto phone. I transferred over 100 contacts in less than one minute.
just an fyi, if you've relied on outlook for a long period of time, Google Calendar Sync will "error" out on appointments for a while until it has completely synced. there is a data limit per 24hrs, that causes Google Calendar Sync to create errors.
one way to avoid this is to export your entire calendar to an .ical file (no attachments) and then import that into your google calendar before using sync.
i struggled for a couple days with this, but now my appointments are instant. i so don't miss activesync.

Google Sync will transfer everything from your Outlook to your Google contacts and then download them from Google to your phone. Simple as that.
