There are a couple of stories I posted in the past I want to revisit, some of you will even get a chance to say "I told you so".
Story #1: Iphone 5c
I went on a rant about a week or so ago about how the plastic iPhone was a stupid idea, and a couple of people challenged me on my opinion (*cough CK). Well I have to say you all are idiots who do not know what you are talking about ..... ok ok... I have to fess up that I have to eat my words about the iPhone 5c. Got a chance to mess with one in an ATT store and I have to admit that for a plastic phone it feels solid. It is no where near the same plastic feel on the galaxy s devices. The phone literally feels better in hand than the 5s because it is rounded off and have that smooth feel vs the metal iPhone casing having more of a sharper edge. Everything from the buttons to the entire design language is wonderfully built and I have to give the boys in Cupertino their do because I grilled them without any hesitation a week ago. I really think the iPhone 5c will sell easily, the casing colors stand out, the screen and inner workings feel like the same old iPhone, and he feel in hand is great. If it had 4.3 and a bigger screen I would have walked out the door with it. Either way I think iPhone fans can breathe easy that the 5c is not a piece of cheap plastic that apple threw out to make a quick buck instead it is nicely designed device built to last just as long as the metal devices. So to those who had different views...ok I will admit I was wrong so enjoy your "I told you sooos" . If you don't mind can you guy pass the hot sauce
Story 2# Motorola X
Thankfully I will not be eating crow on this story thanks to motorola doing what they usually do release devices at the wrong time.
In the same At&t store finally they have up the moto maker for customers to design their own phone.
Sadly it may be a little too late; sitting in between the new iPhone, galaxy s4, LG G2, HTC One, and later the N3 it just don't seem to have that pizzazz that the others do or that push that make people actually walk out the store with one. The ratio of phones made on the Moto maker machine vs how many actually gets sold I would think would be 50:1 (that I think is being generous). Don't get me wrong feeling the backplates and looking at the device I think it is a nice device. But sadly the pricing will kill it because of how late they released it. If they released this phone during the dead period of the summer I could truly see people jumping on board with this but now with the new iPhone (which also have colored designs), note 3 (which will come in black, white, or pink), s4 and HTC one, Motorola at that price level can not get enough people to bypass those well known popular devices to walk out the door with a X. Drop the price and you may get people who want a mid end smart phone ...but with the iPhone 5c going for 99.99 on contract ouch it is hard to see people on At&t passing that up for the Motorola X unless they are in the camp that hates all Apple products. Be interesting to see how Motorola plans on turning this around or are they banking that they will make up for it with sales of the Droid-line on VZW?
I don't think you should have bothered listing the LG G2 in your Moto X comparison, given how even the Moto X seems to have attracted more interest across the forums than the G2 (as unfathomable to me as that is).
Mentioned because talking to a rep the G2 garnered a lot of interest and been selling plus after playing with it my self the screen stands out and I love the memo feature myself. Any whoo at the particular store I was at they did better in sales for the G2 than moto x. Still I will admit that the G2 may not carry quite the commercial weight as the iphone or galaxy devices.
Each device has its pros and cons. I for one would not by the g2 simply because of the size of the device. For me perfect cell phone size is 4.5-4.8. I have the s4 now and although I like the device I find it on the large size. I'm going to give the moto x another shot nd see how it works for me. Specs are not everything! I did have a Moto and found it to actually be snappier and smoother than my s4.
The average non geek probably doesn't even know the G2 exists yet.
