If it runs android or made by google you know someone will try and root it and that is the case with the chromecast. It was mainly done for proof of concept as root for the device do not serve any purpose unless you are a developer. It will be interesting to see if any development come from this device. But as of now I plan on running mine stock (when ever I get it) unless I see something that makes rooting worth it. Still kudos to development community.
