I spoke w/a rep in the Loyalty Dept monday & I was going to get a OCPO cell, but she called me yesterday to tell me she isn't able to do it!!! I was livid, but I decided to wait until today to call back. I called today & asked for a Mgr right away--the rep asked me why--I explained to him what happened between monday & tuesday, after being on hold for about 5 mins, I was able to get the Nexus for $149(after rebate)...
Well, I got my second new phone in a week activiated on the Promo. This one was purchased before the 28th, and activated after - a totally valid and VZW-approved way to go.
Nevertheless, at the time I bought the phone last week, I had the CR write down in my account that my plan "will remain intact" when this newest phone is activated after the 28th. I also needed to call in a couple of days later on a different topic, and when asked, I was told that my plan was safe with the activitation after the 28th.
Do I seem sort of non-trusting?
Well, guess what? As soon as the phone was activiated on the 29th, it was moved to a 2G plan on the new Share Everything Plan. Believe it. It took over 20 minutes of clarifying, explaning, debating and being put on hold "to talk to someone about this". Eventually, it was all put back together, and I have the promo plan I started with.
Can't wait to see my monthly bill with my new Share Everything Plan set up for everyone in my family.
Keep an eye on what *actually* happens to your accounts. It doesn't matter:
- That you currently have Unlimited and/or the Promo
- That the CSR initially says that your account will stay the same after activation
My experience is that the first thing that occurs in the VZW system, is that your Promo will be discontinued and you'll be put on the Share Everything Plan. You CAN get back on the Promo - but it's' like swimming upstream. The CSR won't know what you are talking about, he/she will probably be unaware that anything changed during activation, and they are likely to need to go "talk to somebody else" to get things approved and put back to normal.
Maybe it will be better for you! For me, this was my experience when activating 3 phones at 3 different times.
Hang on to that Promo!!
In my experience, I haven't had any issues with upgrading/switching handsets and keeping the promo ever since I switched all the lines so that my upgrades/switches were from one Android smartphone to another. It did drop when I went from Blackberry to Android and feature phone to Android, but it didn't drop when I went from 3G Android to 4G Android.
I had to call VZW for something else today (a 4G issue with the new phone) and asked about my unlimited and promo. The CSR looked at my account and said, "Oh wow! You have the promo... It expires... August... of 2038." So far, so good.
