What format are the media player music files in? Also I'm not sure what you mean by "media player music files".
They are songs I copied over from my computer that were orginally copied from CD's. The songs I downloaded as MP3 files show up on ring droid but the media player files don't.
Ive had success making two directories on your sdcard... /notifications & /ringtones... place the media files in each you would like to use... the media files placed there should show up when you go to select the ringtone

I hate to sound like a complete idiot but how do you make a directory on an SD card?
Lol. You don't! Everyone has a different learning curve...
-First you'll need a file explorer, if you dont already have one "oi file explorer" from the play store will do the trick.
-next open the file explorer and navigate to your sdcard! Should be the same directory youll find "dcim"(where the images from your camera are saved).
-once youre on the root of your sdcard. In oi at the top right corner youll see a folder with a + on it ... thats for creating a new folder. Name on notifications.. and the second ringtones.
If youre using a different file explorer you may have to press the phones menu button once youre in the sdcard directory... which you should find the option to create a folder.
