No longer receiving notification for Yahoo! mail

I recently updated my Droid 2 from 2.2 Android software to 2.3.3 Android software and since the update I haven't been getting email notifications from Yahoo mail. I have it set to fetch every 15 minutes and Wi-Fi only fetching as well as push notifications are unchecked. With the old software it gave me notifications all of the time, but now I only get notifications when I open the mail app and press refresh. I want to get these notification back so what should I do?

Had a similar problem. Try this:

options>click on your account below general setting>check notifications box

I do already have Notifications checked. When I open the mail app it shows up on the status bar that I have "7 unread messages" or however many there are in the inbox, but that only happens after I refresh my inbox.

Same thing happened with my gmail on my thunderbolt. I have notifications checked for gmail but I don't get any.

Same with Gmail on my Droid 3.

Check your settings under Battery Management. You might have it set for WiFi to not run while your phone is locked so once you unlock it and start up your mail; WiFi has started to pick up and your messages come in.

I changed that setting for that exact reason before i got the update. But it is still set to that and nothing has changed.

Think I have the same issue. What's strange is that when I go into settings/folder sync it shows inbox as "manual" and of course its greyed out. Im still working on a solution.

I have the exact same problem as the original poster (quote below). This must be a result of the 2.3.3 update, as everything worked fine until the update. I'm suspecting this has something to do with the arrangement Verizon has with Google because my mandatory gmail account allows you to sync (and IS syncing), but my yahoo account doesn't offer the option anymore. What I find interesting is, any manually created folders I have in Yahoo does allow me to switch from manual to auto either auto sync in backtround or sync when opening folder, but the inbox (the one that counts is grayed out and is set to manual). This is outrageous, especially as all my work email flows through my paid for yahoo email account. I'll keep watching this forum and hope for an answer.
