Developer Interest In Android Tablets Stalls -- InformationWeek

What does everyone think about that article? I think once Google can do even a tiny bit of standardization, we'd see far more interest from devs. Right now, developing for android must be a pain in the butt...

Android Outranks Apple in Desirability -- and That's Huge - PCWorld

So users prefer android, devs prefer ios...so what does that mean for us? not as great quality apps for android, but awesome phones and the opposite for apple...isn't that where we started lol

Well one was about Tablets the other about phones... Yes people wanted android phones more than iphones but they didn't say they wanted android tablets more.

Either way I think this will change with the more reasonably priced honeycomb tablets hitting the stores now. The moto was not good for android tabs or honeycomb, it was expensive and had unimplemented features. These new tabs are goona hit every demographic and price range. The sony dual screen one is wild and could be awesome if implemented right. So time will tell but for now ipad is winning hearts and mind in the tablet wars but android are doing the same in the phone wars...

To be fair, the first article does indicate decrease in smartphone developer interest too. Also, price of the device wasn't cited as the top reason in fact it was fragmentation and the inability to make any worthwhile revenue that has devs looking at ios.

While full standardization is impossible, if we want apps that are as good or better then ios google needs to do something so devs are not supporting forty devices all day rather then making money.

I think it makes sense from a time/cost perspective to do proof of concept on IOS. I'm cool with IOS being a ginny pig/filter.

Also, Gingerbread makes it easier to develop on Android and also port.

But just a basic reality that a developer limited by time or money will hit a larger market on IOS so, providing he knows IOS code, more bang for his buck to trial an app there.
