What is MIUI?

Ok, so I've searched the forums, Googled it, even Wikipedia. I even visited the official MIUI development site. I still have no idea what is MIUI.
Could somebody lay it out for me, using small words and short sentences? Maybe just start with what does it stand for? Thx y'all-

Its a rom that was made for the nexus if I'm not mistaken, and has been ported to other phones such as the d1.. its similar to an iphone in the sense that it has no app drawer, just apps are placed on the home screens.. also, squareish icons.. i like the fact that it makes the icons look uniform, but so many people here are iphone haters.. there are a few more cool things about miui, just search youtube and check out the subforum here and try it out yourself

Ok i've never looked that far into MIUI but that's pretty sexy. Little too iPhone-ish for my taste but definately has some functionality.

Thats bullcrap...out doesn't kill battery fast. I get 18-22 hours out of a charge. You probably didn't calibrate your battery properly and assume it is the rom

I get better battery life with this Rom than any other roms. I've been using this rom from day one.

Mind sharing where I might find this ROM? I am using the browser and man its fast! Wouldn't mind having a go at the entire ROM itself! Install as any other ROM I assume?? Thanks
