I wouldn't have even tried personally. I've heard of those 1 click root apps messing up/bricking phones that they're intended to be used on. Z4root is the only one I would trust for anything and idk if it works on recent updates

i don't understand where people are getting their "facts" from...
1st- a bricked phone would mean that the phone is 100% unusable & there is no fixing it.
2nd all one click apps use the same type of exploit to root the device, its called rageagainstthecage exploit. androot, easy tether, z4root.. are all just a gui for it.
3rd i honestly doubt a phone will be bricked because of a failure to root using rageagainstthecage... an sbf could probably fix it.
but maybe i am entirely wrong... i doubt it though.
EDIT: oh and it didn't work with droid 2 because the ota update that killed the exploit.... anything after frg22 or something like that.

I don't claim to be an expert and I'm sorry if i'v been passing along bad information but almost everything I know about rooting came from DF. the way you explained it does make alot of sense tho lol i'v seen at least 2 failed rooting attempts and never a bricked phone lol

no its fine, its not just you. its everyone so i cant blame a single person.
you like everyone else got their facts from someone who didn't know how one click root worked and those rumors got passes around.
the same way with people that say using a sbf is the way to root. well all rooting methods exploit a way to install su to what should be a read only file system, what you get in the end is the same thing.
