    Im looking for what the power requirements are for the droid

    im looking at modding my moto droid car dock to have a solar panel on my dash so it will charge via the solar panel, not the cig lighter. (go green =D)

    i know its the 5v for usb, but what about mAh and all that?

    All the info you need should be on the side of side of the charger. I don't have mine handy so I can't check right now.

    850mA on the charger

    mAh is more of a battery rating

    As far as I know, small scale solar panels like the OP is looking for will be rated in mAh.

    Re: droid power requirements

    Solar panels will be rated in miliamps at a voltage, or miliwatts. Not miliamp-hours. The mAh rating only applies to energy STORING elements, like batteries. Solar panels =! Batteries.

    Your best bet would be to find a 12v DC solar panel and then convert it to the appropriate output. 5v panels are out there but not many, if any, go higher that 300 mA. Whereas you can get a 12 - 16v DC panel rated at 300 mA with relative ease and low cost. Problem is you would need two or three to obtain what you are looking for.

    OG Droid w/ Pete's GPA16 w/ stock Kernel using auto OC script. (retired)

    LG G2X w/ rooted 2.3.3 leak.

    It's OK for your Droid to be different. Just be supportive and reassuring and it will do just fine. It's when you or other people point at it or mock it for being different is when its' feelings get hurt. Just show it unconditional love regardless of its' differences and it will in turn reciprocate that love and loyalty.

    Droid = 5 volts @ 0.850A max = 4.25 watts.

    I'd honestly be somewhat surprised if you could fit a solar panel on your dash that could constantly keep a droid charged. Good luck and post pics ;0p

    Check out Goal Zero 7 watt solar panels. They output 12V 7 watts with USB connector and a 12V female connector.
