When will someone get this going?
If it's rocking the Palm, this should be a no brainer for us.
I know it's possible with rooted phones but I'm not that smart.

I think they are doing that on the Palm handseats, since they are not selling very well.
The Droids have sold well, and I bet Droids probably already have the highest data usage on the network, or at least mine does lol.
Rooting is super easy, Droid-life.com has great videos on it, its really just running a program.
You can get a connection over usb or bluetooth with PDAnet, which is available in the market.
I think Verizon needs to do a commercial with the droid putting out a wifi signal of it's 3g. Say a droid users and his buddy are out and about. The friend has a iphone and can't get coverage. Being the nice friend, the droid user pulls out his droid and says " I have an app for that" . Lets his friend use his 3G connection where AT&T doesn't get coverage.
That definitely is a great idea but I doubt it will happen :-/
So the technology is there but there hasn't been an app designed to do it without rooting?
That seems like something that devs would be highly motivated to get going on. I personally, would love that ability (primarily for the kids who both have the itouch).
you don't need to be rooted for wifi tethering. There's a free wifi tether app for non-rooted users called "Barnacle. "It works great!
