Well for now that is kind of the point. A better looking version can certainly be developed for PC web and an app as I mentioned. But for ease of browsing and decreased load times I wanted to keep it as simple as possible. As well as keeping the hit points on the touch screen easy to hit the correct link.

Again thanks for the feedback. I'm going to add an email address to the site so people can contact me from the site if they want.
I think if you want to be taken serious by others, i would consider a graphic designer. I don't mean there should be a lot of useless things on there. He could just make it look nicer... I wouldnt worry about browsing it from your'e Droid. we can always make a mobile version of the website...

And if your'e thinking about making an app for it, you're going to be paying a developer a lot of money.

Well, the way I was looking at it is the main site would be the stripped down version for mobile. The problem with most downloads is that you have too many links to click before you get to the download. On forums you're never sure you have the most current version. Or you have to wait, so on and so forth. That's why I like to present the stripped down version as the main site. I could probably do some browser detection to direct to PC vs mobile though.

The app really won't be that complicated as the back-end is really already going to be in place. We'll just need an app acting as a front end for the user that has the ability to go out and check for new version of apps you have installed.

And yea I'll reach out to some of the other places and see if there is any interest.

Ok, i have no knowledge of making apps. But if you want to make the app, I'll get everything set up for the site. If you want me to help you out, I can start on the site tomorrow.

Freaking fantastic idea.A one stop shop for all things Droid no more screwed up links, dozens of mirrors, hours wasted trying to find files.I am no developer but i like the idea.

    ^ exactly.
I've been getting questions on what the actual goal is of this site so....
    1. Provide a single point of access to apps, roms, themes, and other downloads developed by the community.
    2. Provide the developer with a single point to upload and link from enabling them to more easily get their product out there.

Those are really the two main goals. Personally I like going out and trying new themes and new ROMs but can never find them. They are always buried 20 threads deep in some forum. So with the simple text based links they are easy and quick to find. Once you download on a certain product that will take you to a couple links.
Current Version: this provided a link to download the most recent version and an incredibly easy way for the developer to upload via ftp overwriting the old file.
    ScreenShots: Pretty self explainatory.
v1.44: The developer can choose to leave older versions out there. I can create the links on the site or something can be arranged so they have the ability to modify their page.
Developer Page: I'm also thinking about a developer page. something like http://mikedeveloper.droidaftermarket.com where the developer is able to create their own content or even host a blog for them.

if you're gonna set up a blog, I would go with wordpress its probably the best blog program out there.

Just finished setting up my own site. Shows off some basic graphic and web design. Also managed to embed WordPress into it for easy posting. So again, let me know if you need any graphic work done or have design/wordpress questions. I'd be happy to help.

Yeah, as i said in my e-mail, i'd be willing to contribute to this site. seems like a good idea to get ROM's and themes and such. As for apps i'm a little more on the fence about, because we'd have to control whether we allow paid apps. Hints a free download is technically a pirated app. but if developers are willing to host old versions of their apps and retain the sale of their apps in the market, then it would still be a profitable use for them. since if you want to constantly have the latest app and a way to communicate suggestions to the developer you'd want to purchase the app from the market. And we might as well provide a more sanctioned control of the most common place to find pirated apps. And we could ensure that they are multiple updates behind.

That being said, my primary focus is on ROMs.

That's basically why I want to only allow developers access to modify the hosted file. That way if there is a paid version it could be purchased through their site. We could possibly look into setting up a pay system in this market as well.
