If you had to buy a phone tomorrow...

I know we've all seen this thread a hundred times before but this one isn't hypothetical. My birthday is tomorrow and i think my parents are gunna get me some new phone. The good news is they know I'm picky about things like this so they'll let me pick it out. The problem is I've been out of the loop for the last month and a half so i'm not as well informed as i used to be. Now if you had to pick a phone literally tomorrow what would it be? A strong hacking community is a must (so that means unlocked bootloader?) And 4g is not too important.

Any phone, any carrier? or are you sticking with verizon.

i would say HTC sensation as it is a beast and from what i have read/seen/heard, it is awesome and has a strong hacker community.

for verizon, i would say the thunderbolt has the largets hacker following as of rigt now. things are picking up for the charge tho. also the DINC 2 is a GREAT phone right out of the box. wife has one and it is pretty awesome stock. and it just gor perma root and custom roms are starting to pop up now. DINC2 is the best 3G phone on verizon, and it is a toss up between Thunderbolt (it has some issues most of which are worked out now) and the charge (last years guts, in a new shell)

Well if you HAD to tomorrow, the Droid 3 if your on Verizon.
If its any carrier, than the HTC Sensation.

Yes im staying on VZ and i thought about the D3 but i don't really know a lot about it. I assume it's got to same locked bootloader as the D2 and X but i really don't know. And the Thunderbolt looks good but i feel like it'd be a waste to get a 4g phone in my area before a dual core one.

Droid 3, I keep going to different Verizon stores to play with it. I can't get it to slow down despite what I do. IMO its the best android phone Verizon has.
