Actually, Cyanogenmod is a total community based effort, with people "maintaining" support for devices, and others committing features to the rom. Cyanogen, while still having a big part of everything, is not as big of a part of the rom as he used to be.

You want to go to the Custom Rom area or Android Rom area and poke around a little.
Um, I'm pretty sure MIUI is actually AOSP based, not CM...
But there are several roms in the D1 community that have now gone towards the CM base, for some odd reason. I really don't understand the sudden decision, as it can't be the difficulty in getting a stock build going. After some guidance in the right direction, I was able to pump out a stock build with no major bugs in under a night.

when it started it was on a cm base but it moved on quite a while ago.
