Help Compiling ramdisk.img file!

Hello EV1!!

I am currently getting into development aspects of the Android OS. I am working on creating a more lifelike Emulator image. Before I go and get all Fancy with installing Linux and tools and all that, i would like to know if my project is even feisable!

I am currently stuck on attempting to rebuild the ramdisk.img to use with the SDK. But i cannot et cpio and mkbootfs to function correctly on my Win7 machine. I am looking for someone who would be kind enough to download the attached file and peak at the Script i was trying to use and compile the .img file for me!

Ok, well it ihas been 4 days and no one has said anything...guess i will just bump this again and pray!!

ill look into this for you, but why dont you use a virtual machine with ubuntu.

oh and no matter what i do it wont make the .img, i tried compiling with and without the perl script.. i also have mkbookimg in my bash.rc . it says it was completed fine but there is no output file.

Thank you very much for the help! It looks like the only way to deal with the Qemu ramdisk image is in hex. But i need to dig into it more. and i am trying to make an emulator that anyone can use using the Android SDK. For testing, tweaking, ROM development. I have found alot of little things and reasons.

Thanks for the encouragement! I recently found a program for windows that will allow me to extract cpio! This is looking promising! But then my mainboard fried! ;( oh well, soon enough will be back on track!

Well, I have to have both windows and ubuntu...will be the one I use! I am a Computer tech, so need both. Lol! For god sakes....I still have Win98 running just so I can use some old tech programs and make bootdisks and such! LOL!

BUT...yes I am gonna triple boot when I fix it all up!

lolll, maybe try a virtual machine for win 98?... i would imagine its such a lightweight operating system it could be run with no problem... after all back in my ipod touch days i booted win98 on it, something called Bosch or whatever.
