ubuntu and apk manager

Im not uite sure where to post this so if this isnt the spot and there is a better one please let me know.....ok here goes.

I just dual booted my win7 pc with ubuntu the other night really dont know anything about what im doing but i want to learn, So far Ive been abole to get java setup ( Im pretty sure) and eclipse (again im pretty sure) and now im trying to get apk manager set up. I have read alot of other things in other places to get to wjere I am with it. So basically I have apk manager set up in /opt/sdk/am and in there is a folder other and script.sh if i go to terminal and navigate to that dirctiory and type ./script.sh this is the error I get
The program sox is missing or is not in your PATH,
please install it or fix your PATH variable

I do have sox installed when i went into the ubuntu software manager I think I installed both the sox dev one and then another one that said it was like a complete sox set.

Also When I set up the paths for adb, sdk, apkmanager they only last as long as im in that terminal so if anyone could point me in the direction to making them permanent that would be a great help.

Again Im completely new to this so if more info is needed let me know or if Im going about things completely wrong and you know a better way please let me know Ive just gotten this far by reading other articles and threads.

bumping an old thread. just booted ubuntu up on my old laptop and trying to get the same things set up.

I remember seeing something in the theming section where someone put together a "themers package" for linux. If I remember correctly it installed and set things up for you ... I'll look around and see if I can find it again.

Thanks brother. I'll try it out tomorrow. It's weird feeling like a noob again but as soon as I finished booting ubuntu it became abundantly clear that that I had no idea what I was doing lol.

LOL I here ya. That is one reason Ubuntu lasted about 2 weeks on my PC
I never could get apk manager working (I uninstalled after I found that thread) and I use paint.net (can't get used to GIMP), those three things really made Ubuntu useless to me. But I really did like the setup/feel of it ... I am just a Linux noOb

Ive never set up apk manager in Ubuntu, however I've used Ubuntu for several years. If you are in a pinch, pm me and I'll try to get it set up and running on my install. It really shouldn't be that hard.

That themer studio works great makes it easy as pie to set up, and while I'm certainly a complete noob to linux and still use windows for photo shop I love linux and am very happy I started this little ordeal

you should just have to add the platform-tools folder to your path, as that contains everything you need to run the apk manager on linux.

and remember to chmod 755 the other folder

That's why you set up a Windows VM ...
