    Question Want to start developing for Android, cant get the emulator to work

    Hey,
    I want to get started developing for android, and cant get either the emulator or my device to work. So, I've set up an AVD, but when I try to launch it, either through Eclipse or the Android tool in the SDK folder, it comes up with these two errors: and it launches the emulator window, but the screen is just black and it freezes very soon.
    Here's a screenshot


    Also, when I tried to hook up my Droid X(not rooted or anything), with USB debugging enabled, Eclipse doesn't recognize it. So I cant run the app on my phone either.
    My system is a Macbook with 10.6.6 and a Motorola Droid X with 2.2.1. I dont have the Java thing installed, as i cannot find a mac version on their website.
    Any help would be awesome!

    that error is just saying that quickdraw is deprecated, which it is, but the emulator should still work. Where does the emulator freeze on? on the android logo? or does it do a "bootloop"?

    Thanks for the quick reply!

    So, I thought it might be something like that, but its the only error I could find, so I included it.
    So the emulator doesn't even get to the boot logo, it just pops up and the virtual screen area is black and nothing happens, except after a few seconds the mac os pinwheel of doom appears, and if I want to close it I have to force close it.

    Ok I am thinking Java is required. But dont take my work for it.
    I never did much with the emulator. I built and threw on phone to test.

    Well, it doesnt seem to be available for Mac OS.
    Anyways, thanks for the reply. I'd just use my phone, too, but it wont recognize my phone as a development device. Yes, I do have USB debugging turned on.

    But there are some that develop on macs so its definatley possible. But i have no idea sorry.

    apple sucks and they distribute everything themselves, probably illegal for sun to distribute java for mac.... lol
