So the Evo and Eris already have Gingerbread builds in the works... Droid soon?

I was reading on Engadget that the Evo and Eris have Gingerbread builds in the works already. I don't think either of them are even remotely stable/usable, but its interesting to see. I wonder when the Droid will see something like this. Over at xda the Eris work done by punk.kaos looks cool, I believe hes building it from the SDK. Interesting!

Lots of devs are busy with finals or would rather wait till source. I bet we will see something this weekend
its also really just for developers its super slow i heard on the EVO

"Work" in this case is a subjective term. Yeah they kind of look like GB, but until the actual GB source code is released, nothing will work like GB.

Devs are waiting on source, others are "playing" with the system.img from the SDK designed and limited for the Android emulator.

Not so much. He is working on touches, like the overall Gingerbread theme, the keyboard, and such. But afaik, he hasn't said a word about an actual port of it. The sdk image isn't exactly the best candidate to use as a way to port something. You won't enjoy it so much if it does come for it being incredibly laggy and dysfunctional.

IMO, everyone should just drop this crazy idea and wait for source.

But who listens to me anyway
