Restore contacts - Backup Assistant - Samsung DROID Charge SCH-I510

When restoring the address book, Backup Assistant compares and merges any contact information on the new device with the stored information on the Backup Assistant website. If there is conflict between the new device and the website, the device data is assumed to be more current and will override the data on the website.

    1. Launch Backup Assistant.
    2. Enter the appropriate PIN then select OK.

      1. If presented, select Yes.
      2. Notate the current PIN then select OK.
Backup Assistant will automatically enter the PIN and restore contacts.

First time poster, so I don't know if this is where this question belongs.

Is there a use for a backup assistant on an android? All of my google contacts are on the cloud already. They sync to any new phone simply by signing into my google account.

I, myself, have asked that question also. Specifically, I was asking why the backup assistant wasn't backing up my contacts to MyVerizon online. What I found out on the Verizon website was that the backup assistant only backs up the contacts that you have on your SIM card to your MyVerizon account. If you are like me, all of your contacts are on you Google account (i.e. in your Google cloud) and not on your SIM card. And there is not a way of getting it to backup your Google contacts. So basically backup assistant is another stock App that is wasting space and battery power.

If anyone knows how to modify what it backs up. Please let us know.
