i got my droid bionic connected on the same smb network as the vbm and it doesnt do anything more once the phrase "daemon started successfully" appears on the vbm screen..help!!!!
-you have all the latest moto drivers installed
-usb debugging is enabled
-you imported the ova file
-you did NOT connect your phone to pc until prompted to by the software
-your not on a usb 3.0 port (not sure if that matters but worth a try)
-you tried different usb ports
considering your already on linux you could try this method [ROOT] Motoshare 2: Old Bug, New Exploit - DroidRzr News and Reviews - DroidRzr.com
i spent like 7 hours trying to get this to work before i figured out it wont any more on ubuntu, maybe it will on minimal though.
the problem with ubuntu is they merged and obsoleted these "ia32-libs", and i read every post i could find about it and tried 6 dozen commands to fix it to no avail.
so just a word of advice, if any one step doesnt do what its supposed to do, dont waste your time continuing until you get it to work (if possible).
it is curious that you get the network error with this vb method though, i got that error to because i had the phone plugged in before i was supposed to. after i unplugged it and tried, the error went away.
Thank you! After trying it with a fail the first time, I actually paused and read the instructions (including the one ones in the script) and it worked flawlessly!

Amazing what instructions do for you, huh? (this comes from a guy who hates to ask someone for directions and would rather just "keep driving, it's probably right up ahead")

Does this root tool require an sdcard? I just got my ebayed Bionic without the sdcard and I was planning on rooting it so I could get started ROMing as soon as my sdcard arrives...
EDIT: As usual, I got impatient and just tried it. The first time, I didn't read quickly enough and it rebooted before I was able to press any of the buttons. The second time around I was ready, pressed the buttons when I needed to and it worked perfectly. No sdcard is required for root

i am having this same issue, i have already rooted 7 other bionics with JB, its just this one thats stubborn, i stopped the script and make sure eerything did what it was supposed to do, files were ok, paths were ok, i went to the point of doing the /./storage/rfs0/pwn 1 and the phone said getting root and rebooted (dont know when to press the hardware kkey while doing thismanually) but i now am sure that it is finding the rigth files, so i run everything again, i have tried pressing the VOL key when i get the DROID banner or inmediately after it when the logo shows, no difference i always end up with a "have to update/reinstall superuser" error,
one thing i noticed is no matter how many times i try or if i reset to factory edfaults, thee samba share always contains the files, i never really CLEANS anything as it says its doing, maybe that info is helpful?
please help, the only reason i want to root this is to use a modified builds.prop (i did these to the other 7 made them all GSM) so if theres a way to put my file there even without rooting that would be enough.
