i didnt have safestrap installed prior to upsating to. 905, but if you did and "lost" it you can probably just reinstall the safestrap apk and from there reinstall safestrap recovery. If you lost root (no superuser apk), running motofail on. 905 should work as i had to do that to regain root coming from. 902.

yeah when i updated to. 905 i had a similar issue, superuser still showed up, but none of my root apps would work properly, bootstrap and safestrap both gave some odd error message when i tried to bootstrap recovery or install safestrap recovery.

    heres what i did:

    1. turn off phone
    2. boot stock recovery (hold both vume keys when turning on the phone, its the 2nd option i believe)
    3. did a full data wipe/factory reset from stock recovery.
    4. boot phone back up (superuser and a other apps should be gone).
    5. plug phone into computer via usb (make sure usb debugging is enabled and phone is set to charge only mode when plugged in)
    6. run motofail, it will should work to root your phone again
    7. reinstall safestrap or bootstrap recovery, both should work as intended after root is restored.

you might be able to just run motofail and skip the factory reset/data wipe part, thats just what i did because i didnt care about keeping my apps since i knew i wasnt going to stay on stock. good luck

if you used motofail and it didnt work, id say do the data wipe/factory reset from stock recovery (if you didnt do it before) and try it again.
