+1 for Pure Calendar Widget but yeah, 'tis not free. I also use SpareParts religiously to gauge my usage and battery life. I <3 Timeriffic. I use Astrid for tasks; it's by far the most feature packed task list, i just wish it synced to google tasks. NewsRob for RSS and Pandora for streaming. i use those apps pretty much everyday. I am currently trying out Handcent SMS but can't add it to the list yet, as i've only had it 1 day.

Yeah, me no likey this list. I found another that was WAY more useful and actually got me to go and download the apps. Forgot where I saw it. Maybe CNet perhaps.

Yep, I agree.. Coming from my blackberry where I used the Today+ theme, pure calendar was a must. It did cost like $2, so not appropriate for this thread, but still a must have app..

It is rumored that the dev introduced bugs into the last update of the beta, prompting people to upgrade to the "new" pay version.

I can't confirm or deny, as I never tried it when it was in beta. I don't think it is worth $10 though. The location-based switching needs (a lot of) work and for time-based switching, there are other applications that do it for free. Timeriffic is what I use.
That doesn't make too much sense. If I am using a free application and it doesn't work, there's no way I would pay for the upgrade to that app.

I think the logic is prior to the last beta update, the app didn't have the bugs that the update introduced. So, basically, users updated, bugs were introduced, and people are annoyed and waiting for another update to fix the bugs. The update appears, except now the app is a pay app and you basically have to pay to see if the bugs were fixed. You buy and test drive for a day, and the bugs are fixed and you keep the app, for a nice whopping $10.

If it's true, it makes sense to someone.

The Best calendar app I've found (which I think you'll enjoy) is Calendar pad. And Try Lookout for a backup/antivirus/find my lost phone app.... It's free and INCREDIBLE!

The problem isn't a lack of quality apps, it's being able to FIND those apps in the market when there are really no good filtering or sorting options. 3rd party websites like AppBrain or AndroLib come in handy here.
