    Task/GPS Killer

I know everyone seems to hate the task killers, but I find that some applications take over the GPS and wont release it when I exit them, resulting in the GPS running all the time and destroying my battery life.

What's the best solution for this? Aside from using power management to disable the GPS?

I use Advanced Task Manager (not Advanced Task Killer) for situations like that.

I have had the same issue. I use a task killer to kill off non-essential programs all the time anyhow.

Is there any way to kill just the offending app? Or can I just go back to my "kill all" routine?

If you use Advanced Task Manager, you can set whichever apps you want to be excluded when you hit kill all. You could also just open up the task manager (there is one built into the Android OS) and choose whichever app you want to be closed.

You can check which app are safe or whitelisted and kill the rest. Set it up once and your good to go...

I've gone back to using task panel. I only use it occasionally. The only reason I even talk about it is nobody ever mentions it here in the forum. It works just like task manager.

I have a TON of apps excluded. I know which ones the system restarts and which ones won't get used until I use them again, so those are safe to kill without slowing down. Usually I just kill all if that GPS function gets stuck but I tend to know which ones are the bad app so to speak....usually it's the browser, maps, or some sort of entertainment finder like movies, fandango, aloqa, etc.
