Um.... this is kinda scaring me.

Thats becasue you didn't read through the menu (or this thread) when you installed the ROM. The final step of installation gives you the option to install a few cunstom options (2.1 browser etc.) and then the next menu asks which ones you want to remove.

You never unchecked it. Reload the root app and pay attention. There is a further in depth explination by Camel earlier on in this thread

Yes sir. I am running the Sholes v1.2 ROM overclocked to 1ghz (it will work at any speed though). The Sholes ROM, combined with overclocking, really makes it feel like a different phone.

If you installed the 1.2 version of the ROM, download the file called boot-rev68_800_1000mhz.img from this thread:

Get it onto your phone and then flash it with these commands:

sysrw
flash_image boot boot-rev68_800_1000mhz.img

Then create the file detailed on the link as well ... S99_set_cpu.sh. I am using a scaling_max_freq of 1000000.

Once you have the S99 file in place, reboot and do:

cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq

You can also use the paid setCPU ... make sure you do not Select Driod ... but go to the bottom of the page and select "Auto Detect" if using setCPU.

The app worked like a charm for me. Everything is running smoothly. But I wanted to OC so I dl'd the 800_100.img file and this is where I'm stuck.

I've tried to flash this image through adb and terminal on the phone itself and I keep getting "error writing boot: Permission denied".

My steps:
1) adb shell (or load TE on the phone)
2) su
3) sysrw
4) flash_image boot /sdcard/boot-rev68_800_1000mhz.img

then error. What am I doing wrong?

I'm going to reinstall this one more time however not gonna load Youtube HQ default and see if that helps.

Yep that fixed it.

Reflashed the tar, this time without the youtube hq hack, but still no luck. youtube instantly freezes when I try to play a video, and the phone reboots.

when it rebooted did it fix the problem. My next suggetion will probably be a battery pull. I didnt bother the youtube and it is working fine

Seriously? Havent you read this thread? That issue has been mentioned at least a half dozen times. You didnt unselect it from the list of undesirable apps.

Anyway, in portrait mode, the names of my apps seem to be pushed way over to the side and cut off, is there a way to fix this? or even better, remove the names completely? Thanks

well the sholesmod updater app does all that for you, except it will oc at 600 now, but the update will include 125 250 500 600 800 1000

though you are truly right, this thread is almost 500 posts and i can see someone going crazy trying to find it. Ima probably save that and the fact that it only runs at 600 and post it every 10 pages. It is the common question.

Okay...sitting at the "Your recovery image needs to be updated. Continuing will void your warranty!"...big hesitation here. Is this really the point of no return? If something happens to my phone over the next 11 months am I really screwed?

nothing will happen, no one has had their phone bricked, and google wont allow an app into the market that will brick a phone

I spoke too soon, apparently the Youtube thing is still a bit buggy. Tried reset/reflashing several times, however periodically Youtube crashes my phone regardless of whether HQ hack is enabled.
