I noticed whenever I zoom out/in using Google Maps or move my finger across the screen to slide across the state, that there's a gray screen for a couple seconds and then the map loads.

Is this lag normal or should I get it checked out?

I think it's normal, mine does it too. When you do it on the website from a computer it does the same thing if you zoom in to fast.
