[Tip] SMS Backup & Restore

Hey guys,

another good app has been discovered on the market.
Today i Found "SMS Backup & Restore", wich does what it is
named like. It backups SMS to SD Card (NO ROOT NEEDED)
and can restore from there as well!

Just search the market for "SMS Backup"

I like that app also. The same developer also has a Call Log Backup and Restore, if you need it. Both are very simple to use and works as it should.

I installed the SMS BACKUP n2manager on my Droid X. (n2manager201011071354.bak)

Was able to open from Droid X and copied to my PC.

The questions is i want to open the file on my PC. Is it possible?

that's not really the purpose of this app (it's a fantastic app by the way), the backup it creates is really intended to allow you to restore your texts at a later date.

you can try TXTArchive if you want a text file readable on your PC, or better yet, useSMS Backup to automatically backup your texts to your gmail account upon receipt. you can then view/save/print your texts from your PC after logging into your GMail acount.

If you want to backup your sms to your pc AND read your sms messages on your pc, use myphoneexplorer. It is great.

Before you restore your sms (after a reset), make sure you go into the stock messaging app and tell it not to delete old sms. If you don't it will get rid of any sms restored past a certain amount (I think the default is a couple hundred messages per person). I haven't had a problem as long as I remember to do that. Hope that fixes you losing a few days worth of messages.

To copy sms from android to computer, I recommend a program called VeryAndroid SMS Backup. It can transfer and backup sms for android to computer directly as a csv file.

Search it and have a try.
