When I checked the box on swype I got a warning that said this can collect information like passwords and credit card info...wtf?

standerd security bs with any keyboard app.

I asked this same question earlier in this thread with no reply. Do we know for sure Swype isn't collecting the data? Not paranoid because I wouldn't use my Droid to tap out sensitive information.

been swyping all afternoon, and I'm still getting used to it. Really do miss auto-capitalization, but not a deal-breaker for me. Been typing 2-handed for so long that I don't remember where all the keys are anymore, but I'll eventually figure them out again.

I am amazed at how accurate this app is. I would definitely switch to this app if I could set it to be the default for horizontal mode only. I still prefer the regular Android keyboard in landscape mode.

Thanks for sharing. I was used to one hand typing on my iphone but was slow as hell trying the same on my droid. I'm faster than ever with Swype!

This app is amazing...so accurate. To the poster who asked about curse words...it will if you add them to your custom dictionary under the "language and keyboard" setting under Android settings

12 seconds on the physical keyboard. I'll stick with what works for me.

My only concern is the standard warning when I was switching to Swype mode that it can record keystrokes and if you're silly enough to use your Droid to enter credit cards, or other personal information, that they could get this information. Is Swype one of those companies collecting this data?

I doubt it. I trust Swype because both of the creators are very reputable. One of them is the co-inventor of t9 text input.

For those that want the regular android keyboard in landscape, make sure you have both android keyboard and swype checked in the keyboard setting. Long press in the text box & you can choose which keyboard you want to use.


A little time consuming but hey it's beta. Hopefully the full version gives us the option to set it for portrait only.
