    Is is possible to get fake memory cards?

    i found a super cheap 32gb card on ebay...$55 with free shipping... but it appears to be fake.

    does not perform like my 16gb. Not consistent. Makes MY COMPUTER crash when i connect.

    Is this bad memory or did i do something wrong?

    Absolutely. Only buy from reputable sellers. I recommend sticking with reputable brands as well.

    The old "If it's too good to be true..." saying applies here as well.

    I have heard of many accounts of people rebranding the cards to make them appear as larger cards. They are able to do something that tricks the computer to show for example 32gb while it is actually a 16gb card, but you will not be able to save over 16gb on it.

    Lots of fraud on external memory, always buy from a trusted source, and do your research first.
