bluetooth barcode reader question.

I just saw that Verizon is selling a bluetooth keyboard for the droid. In their description they say that it uses the HID profile. I've read elsewhere that droid doesn't support that profile, so I'm assuming that the Verizon keyboard comes with software to add it.

Questions.

Can I use this software to use a use bluetooth HID bar code reader (the camera based one is too slow for my purposes)? In other words is HID all I need or do I need to worry about some proprietary extension.

Can I get this software without spending $100 on a keyboard I will never use?

past that, if a keyboard works, so should a become reader, all it does is act like a 10-key pad.
