Problems with Bluetooth after ICS update

Nothing more frustrating then to not be heard... So lets clarifiy to everyone. Unlike the other gentlemen, I did complete a HARD reset, a FACTORY reset, whatever you want to call it... I completed it.....AND IT DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. Yes, as one writer suggested, I did NOT load any apps until I tried the BT connection... and NOTHING had changed my problem. I did NOT root my phone... as that would void my warranty with the phone. Like the other gentlemen reflected, I can start a call on the phone, then turn on the BT and it will work... but will not work to make or pick up a call after it's already on--certainly NOT a work around for a hands free device short of getting into an accident. Because the phone "works", I am not being offered a trade in from Verizon and for the first time in this Droid owner's span of owning droids, I am completely disappointed in Verizon for abandoning this problem in the ICS update... I am attempting to go down the Motorola folks path and see where that leads to...

I have been having the same problem and have taken the same steps as you to no avail. I am able to "connect" to my VW, but other than connecting, nothing works. I was able to access contacts, recent calls, etc and stream music via bluetooth before update and now nothing. I have a 2nd Bionic, which I repaired for someone who never picked up, and have same issue. Worked before ICS, not after.

I know this is no help, but at least you know you are not alone.

I agree that this is a joke. While all other functions are great, the bottom line is that this is a PHONE and now it no longer works as a phone as it did in my car.:angry:

Thanks for clarifying GGDroid and Antnip... can I ask one more thing of you .... what Blue Tooth are you using? You don't have to actually tell me... but I know that when I had my Droid 2 I was able to use a Jawbone Icon ... but once I updated to my Droid 4 I HAD TO update my Blue Tooth as well to one in which handled the 4G signals.... the JawBone Icon Blue Tooth was not compatible and they told you that up front when I was researching my purchases.

Maybe.... just a thought here... you could go to a Verizon store and see if they will let you try out different blue tooth pieces to see if it is the ones you have now or it is in fact the phones...

Like the ones who state that the speakers are blown in the Droid 4's ... I have noticed the crackles will come on my phone when ever I raise my voice versus speaking in a low toned manner... I am learning all over again on how to speak on a cell phone !! LOL I know terrible right??!!

I know you didn't mention me in your quote but, I am speaking of my car Bluetooth not an actual earpiece. Are you guys having the problem with A head piece or your car Bluetooth system?

Oh .. Hmmmm... Shellster... I am sorry.. I thought you all were talking ear pieces... hmmm I am not having a problem with my car dock either... I would not know where to venture on that .. unless you all were using the same style dock even though different phones. I will have to play around with mine to see if I can create an issue... (I am not in my car enough to be on the phone, so will bring my dock in and play the next few days)

My problem is with my car. Prior to ICS car paired with phone and all phone functions worked through head unit and steering wheel buttons. Car is 2011 Volkswagen. Now phone pairs and says it is connected but steering buttons no longer do anything and all other functions result in "no items" flashing. Bottom line is BT connection to a relatively new car has been rendered inoperable by this update. Verizon will let me replace phone early at lower cost but in doing so i will lose my unlimited data plan so i feel screwed either way.

I have an older model car (1997) so of course i am not going to have the ability to control anything through the car on bluetooth.

BUT!!!

A few months back she was in the shop for some repairs and my key fob had not worked for years, so I was talking to the mechanics, who one piped up and said....there is a software update for that...we can check to see if your car was ever flashed with the update.

Of course they checked, it was not... they flashed my car...and my key fob was able to be reprogrammed again! Yayyyy!!

So...you all have newer cars with the capability of blue toothing....ICS is newer then the cars....so...maybe its not the phone..but your cars need an updated software to handle the new software for your phone.

Sort of like your home computers....something worked before you updated that program...and it will work again when you update what was:icon_ lala: working before and is not now.

I am guessing you are correct in that BT in phone is no longer compatible with what is in car, but that seems like a pretty big oversight on part of the Android developers. If I was driving something that had the computer equal of a Model T for a phone/bluetooth system I could understand the new phone software not being compatible, but my car isn't even a year old yet and it isn't a kit car I made myself. VW is a fairly popular brand.

Not complaining about your reply in any way, just about the situation. It is disappointing to say the least. My multifunction phone has suddenly become far less useful as the result of an update. I can live without that kind of progress!:angry:

Call VW and see if they have an update for their software in the car.
We cant expect companies to be backward compatible in all aspects, just like we cant expect companies to predict what is going to change in thier software in the future.....

But what we can expect is that all companies try to work together and make thier products work together as changes come about.
I would not be so mad at Moto right now, until they and VW both tell you they wont make their software compatible.

And then its not just Moto's fault....but VW as well...because its their product that is useless....not the phone.
