Bootstrap vs. Safestrap

Now that we have fastboot files for GB and ICS, we should be able to use RSD and reflash just in case anything goes wrong. With that being said, any chance we might be able to get a bootstrap instead in order to modify the stock/non-safe system if we so choose?

I'll probably end up flashing a ROM anyway on safestrap....just too lazy to do it tonight lol

I got a copy of bootstrap for the droid4 v 1.0 which is gb not sure if it would work on ics i doubt it

Success! Installed the bootstrapper for RAZR below, and CWM via ROM Manager (used Droid 3 version), rebooted using bootstrapper, and I'm in CWM! Flashed Google Now to test, rebooted, and it works!

Thank you firedogbryan!!! I too was having difficulty in finding bootstrap... and your right every search directed me to safestrap which I read doesn't work when trying to flash google now. Well I was about to give up but after reading your post of success it gave me the courage to do the same (thanks for providing the link).

Google Now is amazing on my Droid 4!!! I just have to get used to filling in the location data on my calender appts haha..

Is this bootstrap fully functional? Could I download a stock ROM of .219 and flash it safely, the result being a completely stock phone?

is it relatively safe to install a rom like eclipse using this bootstrap? is there some reason every post says to use safestrap?

Satestrap is based on bootstrap but the big difference (and benefit) is that it creates a safe and nonsafe system. Nonsafe is stock and it is considered unsafe because you can foul up your phone if you mess up. In the safe system you can mess with the phone all you want and not ruin it, hence the name "safe".

You can also flash things such as google now with safestrap.
