I just tried adding a boot animation to the system/media folder but it didn't work (only a blank screen showed up during boot.) Not sure if I did it wrong or if it's just not possible at all.
Anyone know? Thanks

yes... be sure it is named bootanimation.zip. I have changed mine with romtoolbox and have also just dropped in one too.
I actually have tried making a few of my own. Nothing too special yet. I discovered that you can put a custom one in the data/local folder and the stock one will be skipped. Just take it out later and your back to stock. You can do the same with romtoolbox by changing the install location. Found this great thread on making animations: http://www.droidforums.net/forum/jae...ems-basic.html
Rom Toolbox is the best app for the job (as well a numerous other rooting features)
