Granted, I have heard otherwise. But in my experience, I just turn WiFi of and leave it off.

4G stays on when on WiFi??? Thats fd up. 3G turns on on my d2 when Im on wifi. That sound suspicious. I dont know why 2 data sources would be on at the same time. Maybe its a bug in the software. Do all 4G phones behave like this?

It doesnt use both at the same time. If u are using wifi and dont disable data it will show that you have data 'available'. Whether its 3g or 4g. Wasnt like that on the D3 either but its on my bionic like that.

So, let me get this straight, because they handed it to you turned on, you have no responsibility to get it hooked up to a charger ASAP? Thats really your line of thought? This isn't rocket science, everyone knows the first thing you have to do with a new phone is charge it, the longer the better.

Or am I suppose to somehow prove you dont really get 2 days on your X, not sure what your looking for here...

Totally scratched the thing up by where you put the key in to get the battery cover off. and THEN he was going through my e-mails and stuff. He said he had to send an activation e-mail... yeah, why does it take 5 minutes to do that. handed it back to me and he was in my e-mails and there was a new one that was already marked as read. he was pretty shady. I do NOT trust these "experts" with my phone... I have done more research and know more about it then they will ever know.
Lol.. sorry, but thats ridiculous. You didn't speak up about the situation? NO WAY would I let an employee go through my phone, period. When I got the Droid 4 I said do not under any circumstance take the phone out of the box. She told me that she "had to activate it for me", and I said that I would purchase it somewhere else instead. She ended up giving it to me in the box. You're spending hundreds of dollars in there, don't let them push you around! It seems like no one got any training on the Droid 4, everyone was clueless at my location too.

And I've gotten 60+ hours on a single charge on my D2 with Liberty, so thats not out of the realm of possibility on an X.

Yea, the gal who was setting mine up seemed quite stymied by the Welcome to DROID4 screen. As soon as she handed it to me I refused to hand it back.

Also, I have 0 doubt (or knowledge) of DX battery life, he was just unclear what he expected me to respond to.

just saying that when you approach a response with a confrontational tone, dont expect someone to just sit back and take it. especially confrontational towards someone new to these forums? go stretch your e-peen elsewhere.

I have been very happy with it. I kept my Droid 2 global plugged in all day at my office just to make it last. I don't plug the four in at all!

    Don't worry about it.

    YES.

4G uses much more power than either 3G or WiFi.

Switching to WiFi whenever available is actually one of the first rules that Smart Actions automatically suggests.

This seems commonplace on modern Android phones. A coworker with an SGS2 noticed the same thing on his phone.

Try using WiFi whenever it's available, and see if that improves performance.

If not, tell the store you have a bad battery, and exchange it for another D4.

I had a similar experience when I purchased the Droid 4 on its release day. I went in to a local store and immediately asked the first guy I saw about the Droid 4 and got a blank stare in return. "The Droid 4?" he asked. "Yes", I said, ..."it was released today." Then he goes, "Oh, let me go check to see if we have any in the back." After he got the phone out for me from the back he put in the 4G LTE sim-card I said, "the battery is non-removable, right? He was adamant that it was and tried to pick at the battery with the lock to open the back cover! I told the guy, "I don't think that's removable." It's a good thing the day before I purchased this bad boy I saw a "first-look" blog about the phone with an up-close photo of the WARNING STICKER on the battery itself, telling the consumer that it cannot be removed. Why didn't this half-wit know this? It's a pretty standard thing you should know about a phone. He is a Verizon Wireless salesman, after all. I was awe-struck, to say the least.

    Thank you.[/QUOTE]

1.Make sure that auto update apps is turned off in the market.
    2. Make sure the Google and VZW location services are turned off in your gps settings.
Before doing these 2 things, my RAZR would die in 8 hours with very light usage. Now after 8 hours of very light usage. I am still 80-90%.
Also, the stock task manager is useful. But it only kills apps while the phone is asleep. When you wake it up, the apps restart.
