    Tips on battery life?

    Or Apps.

Unfortunately, the Droid 3's battery dies too quickly. I have to charge my phone about 4 times a day.

I always disable my Background date when not in use.

I have the app Adanced Task Killer, which is useless.

    Data Saver is on.

My battery mode is on Maximum battery saver.

Also, I disable Date access over Mobile Network when not in use.

When i'm not able to charge my phone throughout the day, i put my phone on Sleep mode (sometimes, because i do need to keep it on)

Are there any apps that would actually work/help? Any tips?

I love my Droid 3, I just hate it's battery life.

Could it be that i may need a new battery?

Anything helps, Please & Thanks in advance

Get rid of the task killer, get an extended battery or get the one you have replaced--or both.

Make sure you've installed the latest update, updated your PRL, and then root and freeze whats safe to freeze

    What's PRL?
    & How do I "root & freeze"?
Sorry, this is my first Droid.

PRL is your Roaming list, or basically a list of towers. If you go to Settings, About Phone and scroll to the bottom of the list you'll see which version you have. Mine is 52522. To update your PRL, dial *226 and choose option 2. It may make you reactivate your phone, but thats fine.

Rooting and freezing for someone new to the phone is probably not the most desirable option. But go ahead and read-up on it because it can pay to know. The first thing you have to be aware of is that you cannot take a rooted phone to Verizon if something is wrong. You have to unroot first. Go to the Hacks part of this forum for some discussions on the topic and I'll edit this post and add some helpful links.

Are you in a low signal area? That can really run down your battery. Apps or widgets that use GPS can also be big hogs--remove any widgets that require your location (like weather widgets) and see how it performs.

Check out this thread: Another battery llife issue..

There are a lot of things that you can try listed there.
    Do you like uninstallable bloatware?
It takes about 5 minutes to complain and it's kinda fun. Let's not be complacent!
Contact Verizon (anonymous w/ fake name if you like)
Chat/Email/Call Motorola (anonymous if you like)
Vote for Google issue requires Google login. Just "star" it to vote.

If you look at Cell Standby under your battery usage stats you'll see % of time without signal. If that number is high it could be draining your battery. I get about 2 days battery life with moderate usage with maximum power saver.

What do you do with your phone? I have had my D3 off charger for 32 hs and still have 10% battery left. This is with normal use (not much browsing or watching videos), mostly texting and reading emails, and without doing anything like turning wifi or gps off, or putting the phone to sleep.

No, I didn't. I've had lots of folks tell me that *228 isn't working for them.
