    umm the zip is what you want
    place it in your external sdcard
    boot you phone into stock recovery by pressing the power button and the x button at the same time hen the triangle appears hit both. Volume buttons at the same time
    scroll down to install update by using your volume buttons then press the power button to select it
    select the update.zip you downloaded scroll with the volume buttons and select it by pressing the power button
    after it installs choose reboot
    once you have successfully updated to 906 you can use motofail to root your device

    Ok I did this and I worked back to 906. I fell stupid cus I really did look just got confused when it said recovery. Did not know phones came with a stock recovery. Also I tried to root via motofail and im still getting errors and all that. I think its because im not using a moto cable. I have an LG one and a Samsung one but no moto. Report back once I have a moto cable my results.

    ok so i got a moto cable and tried to root and am still getting an error.

    i have not idea how this root method works so any help would be great. i really really want to gain root!!!

    you enabled usb debugging on phone, and install latest moto drivers on pc?
    [ROOT] Framaroot, a one-click .apk to root
    I have verified it works with these Motorola devices running android 2.3.4
    Droid 2 (a955), Droid 2 Global (a956), R2D2 (a957), & Droid X (MB810)

    do you have anti virus?
    if so try turning it off then redownloading motofail and then tey rerooting with your antivirus off

    Yes I have sophos so I just uninstall it. Will post result shortly
