I'm rooted using z4 and I just got the update I'm guessing for gb. I haven't installed it yet because I'm not sure if it wil hurt my super user privileges.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't done it, but I'm pretty sure it will unroot your phone. I'm also pretty sure that even though it will unroot your phone, there is a way to reroot it using the Droid 3 method I believe. Search and you will probably find out how to do it.

I was not able to get the update installed without unrooting my phone... see the below:
DROID 2 Update to Gingerbread after its been rooted - FIX!
Bungus is correct. Your update will fail.. You can't ota update without flashing the 2.3.20 sbf firmware on your phone.
My DroidX did an OTA upgrade from Android 2.2 to 2.3.4 now I've lost Root. Can Moto DroidX 2.3.4 be rooted, using Z4? I'm kind of leary because I just bricked my DroidX2, now I'm out of extra phones.
TIA
So just being rooted will cause the new update to fail, even with all the required bloatware present?

kind of.... if you get the ota update while being rooted.... you will get the update but superuser will break bad.
OK. That's different from my problem. My problem is the OTA won't install at all, even with all the required bloatware defrosted.

try unrooting then and see if you can get it and reroot after
