Using GB break 1.2, all i need?

While I'm new to a Droid(2 days ago) i like to push my technology and customize. I'm computer competent but not so much in phones. While I'm almost 100%(99.8%) sure i have GB 2.3.3, is it possible to use this?

I have looked around a fair amount, i thought it was more along the lines of moving some files but it's just a matter of downloading an app...?
All I'm looking to really do to start is, better battery life, more efficient RAM use(rid of bloat), and find a theme to my liking.

Thanks for any help and I'm excited for this.

EDIT: I also noted i need to pre-DL files to allow me to revert back if need be.
